Coaches
The Alhambra Dolphins coaching staff consists of
six professionally trained coaches with over 25 years of combined
experience. With this experience come the assurance that the time
our children spend in swimming will be quality time.
Novice Coaches:
Aileen Larsen started her swimming career with the
Alhambra Dolphins Swim Team in 1988. The skills she acquired from
the team allowed her to compete on the Varsity swim team at La Salle High
School in Pasadena. Aileen received many awards for her athletic
ability such as Most Improved and Most Valuable Swimmer. She also
received awards for her academic success while participating in
sports. Aileen began coaching the Alhambra Dolphins in the summer of
2002.
Amy Kong graduated from U.C. Riverside in 2002
with a BA in Biology. Amy has spent five years working the City of
Alhambra, four of those coaching the Novice Swim Team. Amy's
swimming experience includes being a member of ADST and the Alhambra High
School Swim Team. In high school Amy was team captain her senior
year and was awarded the Athletic Scholar Sward as well as the Coach's
Award.
Janine Amador
graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2002 with a BA in Psychology.
She has worked for the City of Alhambra for seven years, six of which
she has coached the Novice Swim Team. Janine's swimming background
includes participating in the Alhambra Dolphins for ten years. She
also swam for the South Pasadena Sea Tigers. During high school at
La Salle, Janine swam varsity all four years and received awards for
most improved and most valuable swimmer.
USS Coaches:
Karina Arreola is currently attending California State
University at Los Angeles where she is majoring in Graphic Design.
She has worked for the City of Alhambra since 1996 and has coached the USS
team for four years. Karina swam competitively for five years for
Club Guadalajara in Mexico. In Mexico she qualified for Junior
Nationals in the 100-meter freestyle and was also honored as most
dedicated swimmer of the year. Karina also enjoys participating in
ocean swim competitions.
Kevin Larsen is currently attending Cal Poly
Pomona where he is a senior majoring in Political Science. He has
worked for the City of Alhambra since 1993. Kevin coached the Novice Swim
Team for 2 years and has been coaching the USS team since 1998.
Kevin swam on the Varsity team for Alhambra High School for four years and
was team captain his senior year. He also swam for Mt. San Antonio
College.
Michael Mace is
currently attending the University of Southern California, majoring in
Mechanical Engineering. He has been working for the City of
Alhambra for the last 5 years, and began coaching in the summer of 2000.
His swimming experience includes five years on the San Gabriel Sea Gulls
and four years swimming for Loyola High School. His high school
team finished first in Southern California in 1997 and second in 2000.
He was recognized as a top 16 swimmer in the state in 2000.
